Press Release Summary: It is a great pleasure for The Organization Committee of the
Bronx Hispanic Festival to invite you to joint us for a Hispanic cultural
celebration. As the debate over the growing number of Hispanic immigrants
intensified, organizers decided it was important to explore the blend of Latino
culture with American culture, including that of other immigrant groups, from
September 13 to October 18, The Borough of the Bronx will host this great event. The
festival is a display of Art Exhibitions, Music, Dance, Theatre, Sports and more.

The festival is aimed to provide education and cultural information for everyone,
all the events are family oriented. It's an event that celebrates not only the
"Hispanic Heritage" but also the diversity of our community. This event offers the
community the opportunity to access people from diverse cultural backgrounds,
languages and ethnicity.


Press Release Body: 2007 Bronx Hispanic Festival calendar:


1- September 13, 2007 Tomando Nota Art Exhibits is pre-biennale show complemented
with Cajarte an urban art project with the participation
of more theme 40 Hispanic artists addresses contemporary issues such as religion,
migration and exile. An element of irony is palpable in the depiction landscape
where the presence of colorful images, symbolizes a magic and mythical world that
exist beyond human reasoning. In this exhibition, the artists recurs to painting,
sculpture, drawing, photography, etc to convey a complexity of issues that mainly
revolve around questioning the choices made by men, the forces of culture and
history, and the undeniable power of magic and chance.

2- September 14, 2007 El color tiene algo que decir ( The Color have something to
say) Work of Cuban artist Alexis Mendoza create artworks with transcultural
references which perhaps should be regarded as literary rather than religious,
creating complicated dramas that are connected to many contemporary issues. Alexis
Mendoza's creations are packed with imaginative gesture of absent figures, actions,
and invisible landscape to assist in claiming place and moment. In the past,
questioning both the role of religion in contemporary life and his particular role
as a spiritual artist and I found many answers in a personal search for both
spiritual and artistic. But the collaborations with other religious leaders and
artists provide for Mendoza the foundation of his aesthetic energy.

3- September 15, 2007 Pintando lo que vi(Painting what I saw)
Works of Dominican artist Ismael Checo. Observe the persons instead of the artworks
is very interesting to me, for example observe how a person behave in the presence
of an Edgar Degas fames sculpture, Ballet Dancer 1880-1881, and from there come back
to the studio and place the seeing images on the canvas. In his historical
attempting, we can realize that he takes from the Spanish Baroque and Critic
Realism, European Expressionism, among others. Humor resources, such as irony,
satire, sarcasm and parody, are also present in these group of works, telling us
about an intelligent and easygoing Checo when he approaches to the catedratic and
academic; incisive and biting, when he reflects in a critical way, without any
prejudice, aspects of cultural life, within the historical context in the fine arts.
I mention in the past of the Dominican/European influence in which Checo frequently,
supports his work a well-informed imagination, which provides him, figuratively,
multiple symbolic possibilities.

5- September 16, 2007 Outdoor Festival, "Fiesta Folckorica Hispana",
11:30 am - 7:00pm this event offers the community the opportunity to access people
from diverse cultural backgrounds, languages and ethnicity. The festival is a
display of music, dance, art and handcraft exhibitions, ethnic cuisine, and
children's activities. Many restaurants from the Bronx area and individual vendors
will be selling the well-known cuisine dishes from all Latin American countries.
This event is a salute to the Independence Day of all Latin American Countries,
